    Wendy the Whippet, Super Muscle Dog due to Genetic mutation

    This is Wendy, over 50 pounds of rippling muscles. Although quite intimidating, Wendy is actually a very friendly dog. Her amazing hulk-like muscles are due to a genetic mutation in the whippet breed. According to the Times Colonist;

    Wendy was recently part of a genetics study done in the U.S. on mutation in the myostatin gene in whippets, which resemble greyhounds in appearance.

    […] whippets with two mutated copies of the gene become “double-muscled,” like Wendy. It has been seen before in one human, and also in mice, cattle and sheep, says the study.

    Having a Whippet (you know, the lean, non-mutant type), that just scares the heck out of me. Though I’m sure she’s a sweetie, as I’ve never met a Whippet I didn’t like. :)

    Wendy looks like Mike Tyson. That sure is a strange disorder.

    ok…what is wrong with you people! yeah…shes buff and all but how do you think she feels about that! he heart has to work harder to pump blood through all of that. her lungs have to strain themselves! she is slower and will die sooner than regular whippets! i feel bad for her! and its buy…not bye.

    Some of these genetic modifications are not even funny.
